Pyeonghwa Kim is a Ph.D. candidate at the iSchool. Her research contributes to diversity-sensitive perspectives on the future of work in human-computer interaction and computer-supported cooperative work. She examines how workers’ diverse identities and values shape their interactions with emerging technologies. Her recent empirical work focuses on online freelancers using digital labor platforms. Through a longitudinal and multimethod approach, she derives design implications that challenge established labor norms, which often marginalize workers based on gender, race, occupation, and their life and work values. She teaches human-centered design and user experience courses. Kim holds a B.A. with First Class Honors in Media and Communications from Goldsmiths University of London, and an M.S. in Information Studies from Seoul National University.
