EunJeong CheonThe iSchool is proud to announce that Assistant Professor EunJeong Cheon has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Robert Benjamin Jr. Junior Faculty Research Award. This annual honor recognizes junior faculty whose research demonstrates exceptional promise and whose contributions strengthen the iSchool’s intellectual community.

The award was established to celebrate the legacy of Professor Robert “Bob” Benjamin Jr., a longtime iSchool faculty member remembered for his intellectual generosity, passion for teaching, and mentorship of both students and colleagues. Through this recognition, the iSchool honors his spirit of curiosity, innovation, and commitment to nurturing new generations of scholars.

Professor Cheon’s research exemplifies these values. Her projects range from examining algorithmic management in warehouse operations to studying the role of AI in healthcare and nursing. She is also a Senior Research Associate with the Autonomous Systems Policy Institute, collaborating across disciplines to address the social and ethical implications of autonomous systems.

Reflecting on the recognition, Professor Cheon shared:

“I am deeply honored to receive this award, which not only affirms the trajectory of my research but also underscores the generous mentorship and supportive environment of the iSchool community. This recognition will allow me to further pursue deeply interdisciplinary work on technology, labor, and organizational dynamics—and to engage even more closely with students and collaborators across campus.”

Congratulations to Professor Cheon on this well-deserved honor, and for carrying forward the legacy of Bob Benjamin’s commitment to excellence, innovation, and community.
