Assistant Professor Dr. Beth Patin and Ph.D. Candidate Tyler Youngman were recently honored with ALISE’s 2024 Best Conference Paper. This marks their third consecutive win.
Syracuse University Libraries’ Blackstone LaunchPad has named Anthony J. Thomas ’24 as a 2024-2025 Todd B. Rubin Diversity and Innovation Scholar. Thomas excels in entrepreneurial ventures like web design, information security, and home security systems, alongside his experience as a technology associate in retail.
Lizhen Liang, G’20, ‘25, is studying information science and technology. He is focused on computational social science and how AI is researched and used to inform people’s lives.
Yigang Qin G’28 is a first-year Ph.D. student studying Information Science and Technology. He is studying the implications of contemporary information technologies on social interactions and organizational dynamics.
Leah Dudak G’26 is researching trauma in public libraries and using her skills in quilting, crocheting and embroidering to tell the stories of librarians’ struggles.
Dr. Jane Asantewaa Appiah-Okyere, G’13, ‘24, was recently honored for bringing internet connectivity to rural communities in Ghana, Africa. She graduated in May from the iSchool’s Doctor of Professional Studies program.
iSchoolers were among the winners of the Raymond von Dran (RvD) iPrize for Student Entrepreneurship competition and the Hunter Brooks Watson Spirit of Entrepreneurship Award. The competition was coordinated by the Blackstone LaunchPad at Syracuse University Libraries (LaunchPad) and Bruce Kingma, Professor of Entrepreneurship at the School of Information Studies and Whitman School of Management.
Yash Kishore Wadhawe G’24 hopes to become a data scientist for a motorsports company. Eventually, he would like to form a start-up company in his home country in India.
Ud Joseph ‘24 is studying abroad in Seoul, South Korea this spring. He then plans to move to Kansas City to start a software engineering job with H&R Block.
