Each year, the School of Information Studies recognizes faculty who demonstrate exceptional commitment to teaching, mentorship, and student success. These awards reflect the voices and experiences of students and highlight the meaningful impact faculty have across the iSchool community.

We are pleased to announce the 2026 teaching award recipients:

Beth Patin has been named the Graduate Jeffrey Katzer Professor of the Year. Her teaching reflects a strong commitment to graduate students as both learners and individuals, combining rigorous coursework with consistent mentorship and support. Students describe her as approachable and deeply invested in their academic, professional, and personal growth. As one student shared, “She makes sure every student feels seen and heard.”

Alex Corsello has been named the Undergraduate Jeffrey Katzer Professor of the Year. He brings real-world experience into the classroom while fostering an environment where students feel both supported and challenged. His teaching emphasizes practical application and professional development. A student nominator noted, “He shares real-world knowledge that truly prepares students for the corporate world.”

Frank Marullo has been named the Graduate Outstanding Part-time Professor of the Year. His courses are recognized for being engaging, interactive, and directly applicable to professional settings. Through case studies and discussion-based learning, he equips students with skills they can immediately use. As one student shared, “Every class delivers something you can put to use right away.”

James Enwright has been named the Undergraduate Outstanding Part-time Professor of the Year. He is known for his expertise, professionalism, and ability to connect coursework to real-world contexts, particularly in cybersecurity. Students value his teaching approach and emphasis on practical application. A student nominator shared, “He connects lessons to real life and is an expert in his field.”

These awards are especially meaningful because they are driven by student nominations and feedback. They recognize faculty who make a lasting impact on the student experience through their dedication to teaching and mentorship.

The award recipients will be recognized during the iSchool Undergraduate and Graduate Convocation ceremonies on Saturday, May 9.
