Shiksha Lab is a research group dedicated to understanding how people learn, engage, and thrive in educational and technology-mediated environments. The lab uses data-driven, interdisciplinary approaches to investigate learning experiences, educational practices, and the ways culture, technology, and individual differences shape learning.
Our research brings together qualitative inquiry, quantitative methods, data science, and responsible AI to study meaningful questions in education and information science. We are particularly interested in understanding learners’ experiences, identifying barriers and opportunities in education, and developing evidence-based approaches that make learning more inclusive, effective, and human-centered.

At Shiksha Lab, students are not simply research assistants; they are developing researchers. Members gain experience in research design, research ethics, data collection, qualitative and quantitative analysis, scientific communication, and the responsible use of data and AI.
Our goal is to ask meaningful questions, investigate them rigorously, and translate evidence into knowledge that can improve education and society.
Team
Preeti Jagadev is an Assistant Teaching Professor at Syracuse University, where she teaches courses in data science and leads the Shiksha Lab. Her academic and research work is guided by a central philosophy: advancing scientific knowledge while creating meaningful impact on human health and society.
